What To Expect

How long does a candle pouring last?

A custom candle pouring lasts anywhere between 1 hour - 90 mins.

What does the cost include?

The £45 cost for your class covers your entire candle pouring class, including the materials to create x2 candles including vessels and fragrance you choose! Prosecco is also complimentary, a goodie bag to take home & personalisation of your candle labels.

Can I bring my own alcohol?

Of course you can!

Can I bring food?

For health and safety reasons, we do not allow outside food in our public workshops.

Are reservations required or do you accept walk-ins?

While we highly encourage reservations, walk-ins are accepted if we have the space available!

My preferred booking slot is not showing up?

Please email us at and we will try our best to accommodate you!

What is the age requirement to pour a candle?

Because our candle pouring workshops include handling hot wax and fragrance oils, children must be 5 years or older to participate.  Anyone under 18 must have a legal guardian sign their waiver. A legal guardian does not have to be present, but they must have at least one chaperone.

Can I mix fragrances or bring my own vessel?

Our fragrances and vessels have to go through safety testing, so we can't allow you to mix fragrances or bring your own vessel. Don't worry, we have plenty of fragrances and vessels to choose from!

Can I take my candle home with me after pouring?

Candles will not be fully set by the time the class is finished HOWEVER, we will package the candles up safely for you to take home there and then. If you are busy or have other plans after the candle making class we will happily store the candles in the shop for you to come and collect at a later date.

Will you hold my candle until I can pick it up?

Yes! We can hold your candle until you can pick it up, up to 30 days. After 30 days, we donate remaining candles to a local charity! If you can't pick it up within 30 days, we're happy to ship it to you for £6! Just contact us at

Can I buy empty vessels from you?

We do not sell our vessels at this time.

If we have multiple people in our group, can we pay separately?

The best solution would be to pay with one form of payment in order to ensure your entire party is reserved.  If you would like to pay separately, you will need to book individually.

What is your cancellation policy?

We get it, sometimes life happens! If you request a cancellation at least 48 hours before the time of your pouring, we'll issue you a refund! Please email us at to make many any changes! No-shows will be charged.

How can I change my reservation?

If you need to make any changes to your reservation (date, time, number of seats, etc.), please contact us at

Can I have a private event?

Celebrations are always welcome at Turn Off The Lights, please email if you have a party size bigger than 8.

Do you do collaborations?

Yes! We absolutely love collabing with other local businesses! If you are interested in what's coming up, check out our Instagram account at @paddywaxcandlecaruk where we announce and promote upcoming events.

Will you be doing workshops at other venues?

Absolutely! We will continue to tour around Kent hosting workshops with other venues please keep a eye on our socials @turnoffthelightsx for more information.

How do I keep my candle from tunneling?

1. Trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time before burning. Long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning.

2. Let the wax pool completely across each time you light it.

3. We recommend you don't burn longer than 4-5 hours at a time. This will prevent excessive heat build up.

4. Keep your candle within sight! Try not to move your candle unless the wax is completely dry.

How do I prepare my candle to repurpose or refill?

1. Stop burning your candle when there is still 1/4 inch of wax left.

2. Place your vessel in the freezer overnight or until frozen.

3. Remove candle from freezer and use a dull knife such as a butter knife to crack the wax.

4. Pop out wax pieces and remove wicks (you may need to continue to use the dull knife for this).

5. Wash your vessel with soap and water and you are ready to go!
